    • Mike has built up his relationship with the lawyer

      • (Mitch) Lawyer quoted “If it takes a village to raise a child, It takes a village to molest one.”
    • Church uses a slur of terms to take priest out of circulation
    • Church is aware of the crisis
      • pediaphile priests are a billion dollar problem
        • That was in 1985
      • The scale is low
      • 6% of priests molest, from a metric stand point
      • 1500 priests = 90 priests
      • Man has been studying for this for 30 years
    • Spotlight crew uses the directory backwards
      • Using the slew of terms for out of circulation priests to find bad priests
    • Reporter Matt discovers that their is a bad priest right down the street from him
    • Spotlight finds 87 bad priests just in Boston
    • Robby (editor) is told on the phone to stop this investigation
    • Lawyer sent a list of names to the Globe years ago but they buried it
    • Mike and Ben discuss the bad priest list
      • Ben is surprised by the number of bad priests
    • Marty says they need to focus on the institution not just the individuals
      • “We are going after the system”
    • Matt (reporter) asks Robby if he can tell his neighbors who have kids about the bad priest
    • All of the interviewees either don’t want to talk about their experiences or were told to be silenced
    • Sasha (reporter) interviews a priest who molested many boys
      • He admits to molesting
      • He said he was never satisfied with the act and that, that is important
      • Acted like it was totally normal what he did
    • Globe is in court to ask if the church can lift the seal
    • Church removed the sealed documents from public record
    • Files need to be re-motioned
    • 911 happens
    • Case gets put back to do 911
    • All the interviews for the priest cases are canceled
    • Mike wants to make sure he gets the information first
      • Information falls in the right time
    • Sasha finds the clip of the 20 priest names that the lawyer gave to the Globe
    • Robby and Sasha talk the school alum about the Priest Talbot
    • Mike gets the sealed records and its exactly what they needed…proof
    • The Emotional turmoil of this case begins to affect the Spotlight team
    • Mike cracks from reading the sealed records
    • Sweeney ruled to unseal the documents
    • Redacting – editing out the identities of the victims
    • Robby wants to close all the other cases to with the records before the story is released
    • Globe fears that another paper will butcher the story and get it out first
    • Mike goes to church and sees the quire, emotions rise in his eyes
    • Robby needs confirmation from a lawyer, inside the institution
    • Robby talks to Jim at his house, the source he needs
    • Jim kicks Robby out of his house
    • But than Jim walks outside to Robby and confirms the list
      • Not saying anything, just circling
        • To protect his professionalism
    • Robby feels guilty for not reporting this sooner
      • He had all the pieces
    • Marty gives a small motivational speech to show that the Spotlight is doing good things and they need to keep pushing, they are almost there
    • The story is published in the newspaper
    • Mitch tells Mike “Keep doing your work.”
    • The team feels gratitude for what they did
    • Matt throws down the paper of the story on the bad priest’s doorstep
    • Spotlight’s phones had been ringing all morning with calls
    • 249 priests wer accused
    • Over 600 stories were published by the Globe of the abuses
